The Jar

For a year and a half, while working the hotel job, I saved the change. What I mean by that is whenever someone said "keep the change" or if I found coins on the ground, I kept it in a jar.

Sometimes I had to dip into the jar and change out the coins for bills because the cash drawer got short on coins. I'd carefully count the coins I needed and replace them with paper bills.

Now that I'm moving on from the hotel job, I decided it was time to count The Jar.

I counted the bills first and laid them aside. Next, I carefully stacked quarters into dollar piles. Next it was the dimes and nickels. Finally...the pennies.

In the end, I counted a total of $50.85.

And a Canadian Loon.

And a partially-melted penny.

I just happened to be parked outside the Texas Roadhouse in St. George, Utah, while counting, so I loaded my pockets with bills and stuffed the coins into my change purse.

Now, I'm celebrating the start of my fifth migration south for the winter with filet medallions!
