With the work on the RV almost completed, I took Brenda up on her offer to go visit the Desert Bar, a sprawling music venue about five miles out into the desert.

As we rode along the washboard dirt road, I didn't know what to expect. Brenda told me a little about the history of the place. It started out as a guy selling beverages out of a little shack. His clientele was the four-wheeling enthusiasts roaming the rocks of the Buckskin Mountains. When we pulled up, it was clear that these same people were still his main customers as Jeeps and side-by-sides filled the parking lot.

The place is mostly made up of concrete, steel, and wood. Giant solar panels cover the entire venue, providing much needed shade from the desert heat.

When we arrived, the band was playing a bluesy number. While Brenda showed me around the sprawling complex, I couldn't help but be amazed by the rough architecture and how it fit together perfectly to create this out-of-the-way desert oasis.
