Playing Catch-up

The BossLady decided to give me five consecutive days off work for covering everybody's shifts over Christmas. In addition, I was sick with what everyone else has at work. Some have pneumonia, and others have RSV (a respiratory virus). It was really bad on December 23, but it's getting better now. I'm just down to a dry cough.

So I took the Godspeed and went out to the desert to get stuff done. The city distracts me too much. I even made a list: finish the edit of a friend's manuscript, do 2022 taxes for Dreamgiver's Curio Shoppe, fix door to RV, clean garage (cab area), organize cabinets, and figure out how to add a chicken coop to the back of the RV. (Seriously, has anyone seen the price of eggs lately?)

So, I got some of that done. I still have two days. I also wanted to just sit out here and have a peaceful Sunday morning listening to bluegrass gospel music, cooking food, and hanging out with Buena, while contacting friends and relatives.

On Monday I go back to teaching, and on Tuesday I go back to the resort. So, for now I'm just cocooned inside the Godspeed reconnecting with life and playing catch-up.

Part of this catch-up is posting to this blog. I meant to write more, but sometimes you just gotta embrace life and scribe about it later...or post pictures. Here's some pics and commentary from after I got to Havasu:

Brenda's sister got a new puppy, Bandit. I can't wait to do more of a Cowboy-Bandit photoshoot with these two. (Remember two years ago? Buena had puppies. Cowboy is her son.)

And speaking of Buena, she and I have taken several long desert walks out to where the sand is pure to hunt for brain rocks.

And I also made it a point to see some significant architecture of the area: the Hoover Dam and the London Bridge.

I spent some time fixing things on the RV: the air vents and the refrigerator. Overall, sitting out here on the desert, I'm not in too bad shape. I just have to fix the door where it's pulling apart, find the hole in the roof (or reseal the whole thing), figure out why my house batteries aren't charging, and install the new solar panels.

I already devoted a post to arriving in St. Louis for Thanksgiving. It's my favorite holiday, and to have my daughters get together on a plane ticket to bring me home really touched my heart. ❤️ I thought about posting pictures of the family dinner (our family and our extended family, the Johnson's), but since everyone gets so weird about what pics are post-able and which aren't, I'll refrain from posting family pics. Instead, I will underscore how important it was for me to see everyone for Thanksgiving. I haven't been with family for any holiday in about five years, so being with everyone just got me right in the feels.

Back in Havasu, I visited with friends and made new friends over the holiday season. (Again, refraining from posting pics of family and friends without their permission.)

And now it's the New Year. My hope is that everyone can ride out what the globalists are doing to us. Remember the art of hospitality in this digital age. And... don't forget...Jesus loves you the best.

P.S. -- These are just random pics from during these past couple months. I couldn't figure out a category, though!
