Nothing More Embarrassing

There's not much else that's more embarrassing than drying blankets and clothes on the side of the road, but here we are.

Yesterday while waiting to meet my new Career Boss -- more on this later -- I discovered a leak from the bottom of my cooler. I've no idea how this happened, but it is what it is. I gotta roll with it.

I have one more week on the manual labor - out in the mid-90 degree heat - job taking care of plants. Not having a cooler is not an option. But, I'm too broke to replace this one, hence the upcoming career-job. I'm open to any suggestions for keeping beverages cool. I discovered that ice from stores melts into ice-chest ocean, so there's no sense in using ice. Maybe just don't use ice? Just keep my drinks lukewarm and hope for the best? I've only got four days left of this manual labor in the sun. Maybe just staying hydrated will be enough. Our ancestors didn't have chilled beverages, why do I think I need them, too?

These are my trains of thought as I work on the side of the road at a rest area, drying blankets, clothes, and...now... foam bedding.

Darn! If it isn’t one thing it’s another! Put a block of ice in it in a couple of plastic bags with the top of the bags up. Hopefully this will keep the water out of the cooler and you can cool some drinks. 🙏

The blocks of ice melt in three days in this heat. I can't imagine how quickly they'd melt in Havasu!
