The long snowy winter in Utah created a unique opportunity to view the waterfalls at Gunlock this spring. This waterfall is seasonal to rare and doesn't happen every year. With Utah's record snowfall, Gunlock Falls draws the crowds as the rushing water spills over channels cut into the red rock.

Apparently, the water level had been quite dangerous just a month ago, as reported by the St. George News. But, by the time I arrived at the falls this past weekend, visitors milled about. A few intrepid teenagers took turns jumping from a prominent rock about ten feet above swirling water, splashed down, and drifted swiftly to an area with an easy climb back to their friends.

No wonder you wanted to be there for that. How lovely. Something so sublime about crystal clear water flowing in the desert.

I would have liked to visit it on a weekday as I'm sure it's not as crowded.
