A few people have asked, "Pyra, how long are you staying in Utah?"

To them I answer, "As long as it takes and until the Lord leads me elsewhere."

If I've been a bird in flight these last four years, then this landing is necessary. My wings are tired.

Beside that, I really need to organize my stuff outside the motorhome. I need to put broken things together and find missing socks. I need to spring clean the rig. It needs a deep clean and some interior repair and rehab.

Tonight it was finding the missing candle holder for the menorah. I found the candle holder in the craft box, and the menorah was already sitting atop the fridge. Sigh. Together again. I won't need the 2020 emergency menorah made from play dough.

In other news, I'm really digging the vibe of Escalante. The guests who stay at the hotel are global citizens. Most are well-spoken and engaged with life. Whether hikers, bikers, or 4-wheelers, they've all come to the area to appreciate the majestic untouched land. It's a rough land out here with the wind, sand, and landscape. Water is necessary. Survival is real.

I saw a wolf the other day. A grey wolf. A bunch of crows were following it. One Crow swooped back to pick up something behind the wolf. I hurried Buena back into the car before she saw it. I wish I could have taken a picture. Even at 50 yards away, it was an impressive sight with the ravens.

The next day I stopped in at the 4th Street Pub to talk to locals. I told them what I saw. A construction worker said the wolves usually stay up on the mountain, but his buddy found some tracks by his house recently. Then he said, "Seeing a wolf is a rare thing. Not too many people see them in the wild."

Today, I went to the government office to get the official lowdown on wolves in the area. "There's no wolves in this area," said the slightly pudgy man from behind the desk. "They hunt in packs. They come into northern Utah from Yellowstone. If we have any, they're all in northern Utah. You don't have anything to worry about." Then he turned back to his work. (But I interrupted him again because I needed maps for the hotel guests, and I figured the government agency could give me a bunch. They did.)

I finally have a few days off, and in these next few days, I hope to do some exploring. I'll bring y'all along on an adventure soon by posting pics!
